Chapter 700 One Second
Chapter 700 One Second
The entire process took less than a second.
Bai stared at the scene before her, her eyes filled with shock. She hadn't expected Zhang Hai's swordsmanship to be so powerful, capable of instantly defeating ten elite ANBU! This strength surpassed even that of any ninja she knew.
Zhang Hai ignored the fallen corpses and walked to a ninja from the Anbu who was not yet completely dead, and squatted down.
"Tell me, where is the S-level intelligence?" Zhang Hai asked in a deep voice.
The ANBU ninja struggled to speak, but his throat had been cut, and he couldn't make a sound.
Zhang Hai's Sharingan activated instantly, the three-tomoe Sharingan spinning rapidly, observing everything about the ANBU ninja. He reached out and gently pressed his hand on the ANBU ninja's forehead, casting a genjutsu.
"Tell me the S-rank intelligence, and the secret plan of the Hidden Cloud Village," Zhang Hai commanded within the illusion.
The ANBU ninja's eyes became vacant. Under the influence of the illusion, he began to tell Zhang Hai everything he knew.
Zhang Hai learned from the ANBU ninja that the S-rank intelligence report had indeed been sent back to Kumogakure and was stored in the village's most secret underground archives. He also learned of a secret project underway in Kumogakure—the "Thunder God Project"—aimed at training ninjas capable of mastering the Thunder God Technique to enhance the village's military strength.
Having obtained the information he wanted, a murderous glint flashed in Zhang Hai's eyes. Without the slightest hesitation, he snapped the neck of the ANBU ninja, ending his life.
He knew that in order to avoid revealing his identity, he could not leave any survivors.
Zhang Hai removed the ANBU ninja's clothes and mask, then quickly put them on himself. His physique was similar to the ANBU ninja's, and with the mask covering his face, he could completely pass for the real thing.
"Let's go, Bai," Zhang Hai said in a deep voice, his tone tinged with coldness.
Looking at Zhang Hai's cold and ruthless demeanor, Bai felt a chill run down her spine. She knew that although this man had saved her, his heart was filled with darkness and murderous intent. However, she also knew that only by following this man could she find her own value and escape her past.
She silently followed behind Zhang Hai, the two disguised as members of the Hidden Mist Village's ANBU, heading deeper into the village. Their destination was clear: the Hidden Cloud Village's underground archives!
"Why...why did you do all this?" Bai asked softly, her voice trembling slightly. She didn't understand why Zhang Hai would take such a huge risk to infiltrate Kirigakure and become an enemy of the Kirigakure ninja.
Zhang Hai didn't turn around, but said calmly, "I have a task that I must complete. Moreover, I promised you that I would give you a reason for your existence."
"Then...then will you take me away from here?" Bai's voice was filled with longing and expectation.
Zhang Hai stopped and turned around, looking into Bai's hopeful eyes. He reached out and gently stroked Bai's hair, his voice filled with tenderness and determination.
"Of course. I promised you I would take you away from here. Once I've completed my mission, we'll leave together and go to my home. There, you'll have a completely new life, no longer the 'devil' that everyone despises."
Upon hearing Zhang Hai's promise, tears welled up in Bai's eyes. She had never imagined that she would one day hear such warm words. She reached out her small hand and tightly grasped Zhang Hai's fingers.
"Pinky promise," Bai said softly, his eyes filled with seriousness.
Zhang Hai was slightly taken aback, then smiled knowingly. He extended his little finger and hooked it tightly with Bai's little finger.
"Pinky promise, a hundred years from now," Zhang Hai said softly.
Bai followed along, and a long-lost smile finally appeared on her face. That smile was like the first melting of snow, beautiful and pure.
The two set off again. Zhang Hai, disguised as a member of the Hidden Mist Village's Anbu, successfully infiltrated the village with Haku. The village was patrolled by Hidden Mist ninjas, but thanks to Zhang Hai's perfect disguise and Haku's excellent stealth abilities, they aroused no suspicion.
The dense fog provided them with excellent cover, and Zhang Hai's Sharingan played a crucial role within it. He could clearly see everything around him, avoiding all traps and patrol routes.
They navigated the intricate streets of Kirigakure, Zhang Hai's goal clear: to find the underground archives of Kumogakure. He knew that the S-rank intelligence document must be stored there.
However, navigating Kirigakure proved far more difficult than he had anticipated. The village boasted a unique architectural style, a complex network of streets, and numerous hidden traps and mechanisms.
To obtain more accurate intelligence, Zhang Hai decided to use his Sharingan again. He discovered a Jonin-level Hidden Mist ninja emerging from a building, seemingly having just completed a mission.
Zhang Hai quietly followed the Jonin, and then, in a secluded corner, cast a genjutsu.
“Tell me, where is the underground archives of Kumogakure? And all the information about the ‘Thunder God Project’,” Zhang Hai commanded within the illusion.
The ninja, his eyes glazed over, began to tell Zhang Hai everything he knew, in detail.
Zhang Hai learned from the Jonin that the Hidden Cloud Village's underground archives were actually located deep within the Hidden Mist Village's Anbu headquarters. All important intelligence and classified documents were stored there. Furthermore, he learned a startling piece of news: the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist had all returned to the village!
"The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist..." Zhang Hai's heart sank. The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were the seven strongest ninjas of Kirigakure, each wielding a powerful ninja sword and possessing extraordinary strength. If they all returned to the village, the difficulty of this mission would undoubtedly increase significantly.
He withdrew his illusion, killed the Jonin, and then hid the body.
Zhang Hai stared at the map in his hand, his eyes gleaming with unwavering determination. His target was clear: the headquarters of the Hidden Mist Division! He knew it would be a tough battle there. But he had no other choice. For Master White Fang, for S-rank intelligence, he had to venture into the lion's den!
He turned to look at Bai behind him and said in a heavy tone, "Bai, the place we're going to next is the headquarters of the Hidden Mist Dark Division. It's full of danger, so you must be careful."
Bai nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "I understand, Lord Zhang Hai. I will protect myself."
The two set off again, speeding towards the headquarters of the Hidden Mist Anbu. The dense fog remained their best cover, and Zhang Hai's Sharingan played a crucial role within it. He avoided all patrol routes and traps, approaching the Hidden Mist Anbu headquarters silently.
