Chapter 113 The Sword of Apocalypse (Part 1)

Chapter 113 The Sword of Apocalypse (Part 1)

"You've also come for the 'Sword of Revelation'?" the city lord asked directly, getting straight to the point.

“Yes, we have a reason to find it,” Yun Muhan replied, his voice firm and powerful.

City Lord: I've heard many reasons, but this is the first time I've heard one...

The city lord nodded, stood up from his throne, and walked to them. "I can provide you with some clues, but in exchange, I hope you can help me solve a difficult problem."

"What kind of problem?" Dugu Jianling asked curiously.

“Recently, a ferocious snow beast has appeared in the snow-capped mountains outside the city. It frequently attacks passing caravans and villagers. I need you to deal with this threat.” The city lord’s eyes revealed a hint of expectation.

Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling exchanged a glance; they knew this was not only a mission but also a test. Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling nodded, accepting the task.

"Very good, I will send someone to take you to the snow mountain," the city lord said with satisfaction.

Thus, under the city lord's arrangement, the two embarked on a journey to the snow mountain.

……

Under the city lord's arrangement, Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling, led by an experienced guide, traversed the streets of Wind and Snow City and arrived at the city gate.

Outside the city gate, a vast expanse of white snow stretched into the distance, the outlines of snow-capped mountains appearing and disappearing in the wind and snow, appearing mysterious and dangerous.

The guide was a middle-aged man named Tieshi. He had a determined look in his eyes and his skin was rough and dark from the wind and snow.

Tieshi told the two that he had entered the snow mountain several times and knew its terrain like the back of his hand. He warned, "The snow mountain is not only home to ferocious snow beasts, but also to unpredictable weather and hidden traps."

"We need to hurry and find a sheltered place to camp before dark," Tieshi continued, leading the way into the snowstorm.

Tie Shi's voice was firm and powerful, piercing through the howling wind and snow, his words revealing an unquestionable determination. His figure appeared exceptionally resolute in the wind and snow, each step steady and powerful.

A thin layer of frost had formed on his hair and beard, but his eyes remained firm, as if nothing could stop him from moving forward.

Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling followed closely behind. Their figures were somewhat blurred in the wind and snow, but their steps were equally firm.

Their footsteps left deep marks on the thick snow, as if etching their footprints in this desolate snowfield. These marks were gradually covered by the wind and snow, but their existence proved the path they had traveled.

Dugu Jianling gripped his longsword, his eyes alert and sharp, like a cheetah surveying its territory. His gaze swept across the surrounding snowstorm, searching for any potential dangers. The longsword in his hand appeared exceptionally steady, its blade gleaming coldly in the snow, as if ready to be drawn at any moment to deal with any sudden threat.

Yun Muhan then took out an old map, its edges worn but the lines and markings still clearly visible. He carefully searched the map, trying to find a route to the sheltered place.

The snow-capped mountain outlines and danger zone markers on the map were both a challenge and a guide for them. His finger gently slid across the map, as if sensing the stories and history behind those lines.

“According to this map, the ‘Sword of Apocalypse’ may be hidden in a secret cave in the snow mountain,” Yun Muhan said to Dugu Jianling.

“Then we must not only deal with the snow beast, but also find that sword,” Dugu Jianling replied, his eyes gleaming with determination.

They walked for a long time, and the wind and snow grew stronger, reducing visibility to an extreme level.

Tieshi suddenly stopped and pointed to a snow-covered hill ahead, saying, "There's a cave there; we can take shelter there."

The three quickened their pace and arrived at the cave entrance. Tieshi lit a torch and went inside first. The cave was warm and dry inside, an ideal haven.

They lit a campfire, sat around it, and shared their rations and hot water.

“Snow beasts are usually active at night, so we’d better wait here until dawn,” Ironstone suggested.

Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling nodded in agreement. They knew that in the face of unknown dangers, maintaining physical strength and vigilance were key to survival.

Night had fallen, and the wind and snow continued to rage, but the cave was unusually quiet.

The three took turns keeping watch at night to ensure safety.

……

The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight shone through the cracks in the cave, the three of them tidied their equipment and prepared to continue their journey.

Yun Muhan checked the map and determined the next destination—a place called "Ice Crystal Valley," which was said to be the lair of snow beasts.

"Are you ready?" Yun Muhan asked.

"Ready at any time." Dugu Jianling gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, his eyes flashing with the spark of battle.

As the three slowly emerged from the cave, they were immediately enveloped by a biting cold wind.

The wind, like a sharp blade, cut into their skin, bringing the unique chill of Ice Crystal Valley. The sky was a vast expanse of gray, seemingly merging with the distant snow-capped mountains, the whole world frozen in this icy stillness.

Their footsteps crunched on the snow, the only melody in the silence. With each step, the snow sank slightly beneath their feet, leaving a trail of deep footprints, marking their journey. Their breath condensed into white mist in the air, quickly dissipating with the cold wind.

The scenery of Ice Crystal Valley is magnificent yet desolate. Huge ice pillars and ice cones rise abruptly from the ground, like the masterpiece of nature, or like ice giants guarding this land.

Sunlight pierced through the thin clouds, scattering across the ice crystals and refracting into a rainbow of colors, bringing a touch of warmth and life to this cold world.
