Chapter 108 Bitcoin Reaches New High

Chapter 108 Bitcoin Reaches New High

On the day Bitcoin broke the $2,000 mark, Kim Eun-sook stormed into Su Yu's office.

The door was pushed open without knocking. This was the first time this had ever happened to her. Su Yu looked up from his documents and stared at her. Kim Eun-sook was holding her phone, the screen displaying a Bitcoin transaction interface, her face flushed red.

Two thousand and thirty dollars.

Su Yu glanced at the candlestick chart on his computer. "Hmm."

"Huh?" Kim Eun-sook's voice rose half an octave. "You invested $1.5 million back then, and now it's worth $14 million. That's almost ten times the initial investment. And you're telling me that?"

"So what do you want me to say?"

Kim Eun-sook took a deep breath and slammed her phone on his desk. "Sell. Sell at least some. Better to have it in hand."

Su Yu leaned back in his chair. "Not for sale."

"Representative Su—"

"You told me to sell it when it was eight hundred dollars. Now it's two thousand." Su Yu's tone was flat. "If I had listened to you, how much money would I have lost?"

Kim Eun-sook was speechless. She opened her mouth, as if to say something, but swallowed it back. She had worked in finance at Samsung for eight years and had seen all sorts of investment products, but she had never seen anything like this. No physical entity, no backing, the price was entirely supported by market sentiment. In her eyes, this wasn't an investment, it was gambling. But Su Yu had won the gamble, time and time again.

"So when do you plan to sell it?" Her voice lowered.

"wait."

"When?"

"Wait until it's time to sell."

Kim Eun-sook stared at him for a few seconds, then turned and walked away. When she reached the door, she stopped but didn't turn back. "Representative Su, it's not that I don't trust you. I'm just afraid you're too reliant on luck."

The door closed. Su Yu stared at the door, remained silent for a few seconds, then picked up his phone and sent Cai Xiubin a message: "Bitcoin went up." Cai Xiubin replied: "How much?" Su Yu said: "Fourteen million US dollars." Cai Xiubin sent a long string of ellipses, then said: "You'll need to bring bodyguards when you go out from now on." Su Yu's lips twitched. "No need. Nobody knows."

In the afternoon, Shirley arrived.

She pushed open the door, carrying neither coffee nor a bag, and walked in alone, sitting down on the sofa. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt, her hair casually tied up, and she wasn't wearing makeup. Su Yu glanced at her.

"Is the new song finished recording?"

"Mm." Shirley leaned back on the sofa. "It'll be revealed the day after tomorrow."

"nervous?"

"I'm not nervous." She paused for a moment. "Have you listened to the demo?"

Su Yu looked at her. "I listened."

Shirley waited a few seconds. "Just listened? Nothing else?"

"The melody is catchy. The lyrics are also well-written."

Shirley stared at him for a few seconds, then smiled. "You're good at commenting on other people's songs. But when it comes to my songs, it's just 'not bad.'" Su Yu didn't reply. Shirley stood up, walked to the window, and turned her back to him.

"Su Yu, do you know who that song was written for?"

Su Yu paused for a moment. "I know."

"Then do you know why I wrote it?"

Su Yu did not answer.

"Because some things are hard to say aloud. Writing them down, singing them out, makes them feel less painful." Shirley turned to look at him. "You don't need to respond. I'm just telling you."

The office was silent for a few seconds. Su Yu looked at her, wanting to say something, but said nothing. Shirley smiled briefly, a smile that seemed habitual.

"I'm leaving. It'll be announced the day after tomorrow. You can listen if you have time. If not, that's fine too."

As she reached the door, Su Yu said, "I have time."

Shirley's hand paused on the doorknob for a moment, then she pushed the door open and went out.

That evening, Su Yu returned home. Cai Xiubin was cooking in the kitchen, the range hood humming and the pan sizzling. He changed his shoes and walked to the kitchen doorway.

"Bitcoin went up today," he said.

Cai Xiubin turned off the stove and turned around. "How much did it go up?"

"It's gone up a little more."

"How much is one point?"

"About two million dollars."

Cai Xiubin blinked but didn't say anything. She turned around and continued cooking. Su Yu stood at the door watching her retreating figure.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" he asked.

Cai Xiubin ladled the dishes out, placed them on the table, and took off her apron. "What should I say? Say you're amazing? You already are. Say you're lucky? You're not just lucky. Say you shouldn't take too many risks? You don't listen." She sat down, picked up her chopsticks, "So I won't say anything. I believe whatever you do."

Su Yu sat down opposite her.

"Shirley came to the company today," he said.

Cai Xiubin paused for a moment, then continued picking up food with her chopsticks. "What did she say?"

"They said the new song will be released the day after tomorrow."

"So you can hear it?"

"Um."

Cai Xiubin chewed her food without saying a word. After a few seconds, she put down her chopsticks and looked at Su Yu. "Then will you listen?"

"listen."

Cai Xiubin nodded, picked up her chopsticks, and continued eating. She didn't ask any more questions. Su Yu looked at her profile, wanting to say something, but didn't know what to say. He picked up a piece of meat and put it in her bowl. Cai Xiubin glanced at it and smiled.

"You can even use your chopsticks to pick up food now? Did you learn that in America?"

Su Yu didn't answer. Cai Xiubin ate the piece of meat, chewing it very slowly.

After dinner, Su Yu washed the dishes. Cai Xiubin leaned against the kitchen doorframe, watching his back, and suddenly said, "Su Yu, while you were away, I went to the company to look for Shirley."

Su Yu turned off the water and turned around. "Where are you going?"

"Nothing much. I was just passing by and went up to sit for a bit." Cai Xiubin tucked her hair behind her ear. "She was writing songs in the recording studio. When she saw me, she took off her headphones and asked if I wanted some coffee. I said no. She poured me a glass of water."

Su Yu dried his hands and looked at her.

"We chatted," Cai Xiubin said, "but not about you. We talked about her new song, my drama in Busan, and what scripts Kim Go-eun has taken on recently. Just like a normal conversation between colleagues." She paused for a moment, "Su Yu, I won't dislike her just because Sulli likes you. And she hasn't treated me badly because she likes you. We're fine like this."

Su Yu walked over and stood in front of her. "You don't mind?"

"I do mind." Cai Xiubin looked up at him. "But what good does it do? Who you like is your business. My belief in you is mine."

Su Yu lowered his head and kissed her forehead. Cai Xiubin closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling. The only sound in the kitchen was the slow, dripping of the faucet.

"Su Yu".

"Um."

"Next time Bitcoin goes up, don't tell me the number. Just tell me it went up."

Why?

"Because the number is too big, I'm afraid my heart can't handle it."

Su Yu's lips curved slightly.
