Chapter 462 Regret
Chapter 462 Regret
"Oh." The four girls said "Oh" in unison.
“Alright,” Chao Bufan continued, “You will stay in my inner space for now. I will release you after you have digested the magic I have taught you.”
"Ok."
"Then I'll go out first."
"Bufan, where are you going?" Lin Xiaomin asked.
"I need to talk to the principal about something. I'll be back after that."
"Oh."
After leaving his internal space, Chao Bufan appeared in the dormitory like a ghost, and then disappeared in a flash.
Chao Bufan arrived at the principal's office. At that moment, Principal Smith, Professor Warlock, and others were sitting together discussing something.
"Boom boom boom!"
Someone knocked on the door—and Principal Smith and the others stopped talking.
"Please come in!" Principal Smith said, raising his voice slightly.
Chao Bufan pushed open the office door and walked in, then closed it behind him.
"Principal, professors!" Chao Bufan greeted them politely.
“You’ve arrived,” Principal Smith nodded and said, “Please have a seat!”
"Thank you, Principal!" Chao Bufan thanked him, then sat down at the other end of the sofa and said, "I wonder what brings you here so late at night, Principal?"
Principal Smith cut to the chase, asking, "Chao Bufan, did any of you go to the northern part of the forest yesterday?"
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan nodded without hesitation and replied, "I've been there."
"Did you encounter anything?" Professor Warlock asked.
“We’ve encountered vampire bats and man-eating ants,” Chao Bufan replied.
"So, you're saying that the mysterious disappearance of those vampire bats and man-eating ants in the forest was all your doing?" Principal Smith pressed.
“Yes,” Chao Bufan replied calmly, “these beasts have all been killed by us.”
"Hmm." Principal Smith nodded approvingly, then asked, "Have you seen a witch dragon?"
“Principal,” Chao Bufan said, “I have already killed that witch dragon.”
"Hmm, not bad, not bad," Principal Smith praised. "As expected of the geniuses of the entire magic academy, it seems that these few days of vacation were well spent."
“Extraordinary,” Professor Mihir asked, “have you seen the guardian beasts of our Magic Forest?”
"You mean the Crouching Dragon and the Fire Wolf King, right?" Chao Bufan asked.
“Yes,” Principal Smith nodded, “that’s exactly them.”
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan chuckled and said in a joking tone, "Since I know their names, I must have seen them before. I almost killed them too!"
"Uh!!" Principal Smith and the others were startled. Professor Warlock asked in surprise, "Extraordinary, you didn't do anything to them, did you?"
"Don't worry, they're all fine!" Chao Bufan's expression remained calm, but he was trying to figure out the principal and the others' intentions. They couldn't have called him in for questioning so late at night just to ask these useless questions; they must have something else to ask. So he said calmly, "If I really did something to them, you wouldn't let us off the hook either, right, Principal?"
“Extraordinary, you are the most outstanding student I have ever met. I know you may really have the ability to kill the forest guardian beasts in our forest,” Principal Smith said again with a tone of praise, “but forest guardian beasts are forest guardian beasts after all. Even we have to respect them. Without them, the entire Magic Forest would be in chaos. Do you understand what I mean?”
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. If they really did something to the Earth Dragons, not only would the principal and his group be in trouble, but even those old fogies in the Magic Canyon wouldn't let them off the hook. As for the mysterious and unknown Ancient Spirit City, it goes without saying that there are definitely beings stronger than him there, and they might even be able to kill him instantly. So he said, "Understood, Principal."
“Extraordinary,” Principal Smith’s expression suddenly turned serious. He asked, “Tell me honestly, have you actually been to Magic Canyon?”
Chao Bufan answered frankly, "I've been there."
Upon hearing this, Principal Smith's eyes lit up, but Professor Michelle spoke up in surprise, "Extraordinary! Magic Canyon is not only a forbidden area of our magic academy, but also the most mysterious place in our magic academy. No one in the entire magic academy is allowed to enter, except for the five of us present here. How did you know about this place? And how did you get in?"
"this--"
Chao Bufan hesitated noticeably. It wasn't that he was unwilling to tell the truth, but rather that he didn't want to expose Bridal. If that happened, people would accuse him of "betraying his friend," and he would be in a situation he couldn't clear his name no matter what.
"You're already inside, so don't worry! We don't mean to hold you accountable, we just want to understand the situation. Actually, even if you don't say it, I know who told you about this place—it was that kid Blido, wasn't it!" Principal Smith seemed to have seen through Chao Bifan's thoughts and said with a kind smile.
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan smiled slightly and then nodded, acknowledging the implication.
Now that the topic had been brought up, Principal Smith smiled, completely devoid of his usual aloof leadership demeanor, and asked, "Have you met Professor Kressdorf and the others?"
“Yes, I have,” Chao Bufan replied. “After they learned that we were going to the Black Magic Academy to participate in the competition tomorrow, they gave us a magic wand and a natural magic stone.”
Speaking of the Natural Philosopher's Stone, after learning about it, Chao Bufan finally understood what the Rubik's Cube he had given Principal Smith as a gift was. It was a Magic Crystal, far more powerful than the Natural Philosopher's Stone; it was said to be able to summon incredibly powerful beings. Unfortunately, he was clueless about its value. Of all things to give, he had to give the Principal a Magic Crystal. Looking back, he truly felt like a complete fool and was filled with regret. However, he considered many reasons and methods to get the Rubik's Cube back, but ultimately rejected them all. Given the Principal's tendency to be easily swayed by material possessions, getting the cube back from him would be an impossible task, so he gave up.
Principal Smith shook his head and smiled, saying, "I really don't know what kind of luck you guys had. It's so hard for us to even see them, yet you guys have the good fortune to gain their favor."
“We feel very lucky too!” Chao Bufan said with a smile, then asked, “Principal, may I ask you a question?”
Principal Smith nodded and smiled, saying, "Go ahead and ask!"
