Chapter 529 Yama Palace

Chapter 529 Yama Palace

“That’s right,” Tianyue said. “The saying goes, ‘Quietness breeds wisdom.’ Only when your mind is calm can you see things clearly. In stillness, you can reflect on yourself, know which behaviors need correction, and which areas need improvement. In stillness, life is sublimated and purified. Stillness leads to all realms. However, throughout history, no one has ever truly achieved this. The Buddha said to be free from worldly desires, but even the Buddha’s heart, which is as still as a deep well, cannot escape this fate. Why? It’s because the Buddha’s heart is not calm or pure. They keep talking about saving all sentient beings, which is a pipe dream. But can they even save themselves? Therefore, we shouldn’t fantasize that life is all spring. Everyone’s life is destined to be full of hardships, to taste bitterness and joy. Life is originally a journey from a dream.” Towards another dream, from one distant place to another. There is no such thing as endless taking, nor endless giving; everything arises from causes and conditions, born from thoughts. A worry or a joy is but a fire in the heart, a glory or a decay is but dust in the eyes. Calmly see through the vicissitudes of life, and never be a dreamer for eternity. Cultivating the mind requires purifying the heart; cultivating the Way requires selflessness as its foundation. Past events, past thoughts, should not be remembered; present events, present thoughts, let them be as they come; future events, future thoughts, do not trouble your mind. Alas…” He sighed deeply, then continued, “So many things, past and present, are all but a laughing matter. Everything is born of the Way, and dies of the Way! Throughout history, who has truly seen through this ‘Way’? Who has truly comprehended this ‘Way’?”

He sighed again, and then both of them fell into deep thought.

After a long while, the two looked at each other at the same time, then smiled in unison. Tianyue chuckled softly and asked, "Little brother, do you understand something?"

Chao Bufan felt a wave of relief and laughed, "I understand, but I don't quite understand."

Tianyue laughed and said, "This is what you call a mix of truth and falsehood, falsehood and truth, neither true nor false, neither false nor true."

“Brother,” Chao Bufan smiled slightly, “there is still one thing I haven’t figured out.”

"Are you talking about the Nine Nether Hells?" Tianyue asked.

Chao Bufan nodded and said, "You only told me the reason for the destruction of other worlds, but you didn't tell me the reason for the existence of the Nine Nether Hell."

Tian Yue smiled faintly and said, "A flower is a world, a leaf is a universe. All living things in the world are subject to birth, aging, sickness, and death, and no one can escape the cycle of reincarnation. Where there is birth, there is death, and where there is death, there is birth. This is the way of reincarnation, and the place of the cycle of reincarnation is precisely in the Nine Nether Hell. And the Nine Nether Hell is below the human realm. As long as the human realm exists, how can the Nine Nether Hell be destroyed?"

Chao Bufan smiled and said, "I thought the Nine Nether Hell was the so-called underworld or ghost realm, but it turns out it's a realm of its own."

“No,” Tianyue shook her head and said, “The Nine Nether Hell is a bridge connecting the Nine Realms. Now you should understand, right?”

Chao Bufan nodded and said, "I understand."

"Then let's go in!"

With that, the two of them vanished from the spot in a blur.

Just as the two disappeared, somewhere in the Heavenly Cave, in a world of wind and snow, the wind and snow continued endlessly, the bitter cold stretched for thousands of miles, and the chilling storm swept across the entire frozen land like the howling of ghosts and wolves, before blowing into the depths of the vast, boundless ice plain ahead.

However, deep within this icy plain, in an extremely cold and secluded place, stands a towering, straight tower amidst the vast snowstorm.

Anyone who sees this mysterious colossal tower would be stunned and amazed, for this tower, hundreds of feet tall, is entirely constructed of massive, millennia-old ice. Despite the biting winds and howling gales, this tower stands proudly amidst the snow and wind, like an ancient war god who has witnessed millions of years of history, coldly surveying this land. Even more astonishing and chilling are the three large, glowing, fiery red characters on the tower—"Tower of Hell."

Beneath the Tower of Hell, beneath the ground frozen solid by millennia of extreme cold, lies a vast underground palace, perpetually illuminated and resplendent, adorned with magnificent and exquisite carvings. Among these carvings are bizarre creatures, with the legendary dragon of HX being the most prominent, appearing in almost every palace.

Each dragon is sculpted with lifelike detail, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws, exuding arrogance and domineering power, filling every corner of this underground palace, like a god worshipped in devout homage, or a totem of unwavering faith.

Deep within the vast underground palace, a magnificent palace with green tiles stands tall, seemingly the most central and tallest building in the entire palace complex. The steps leading from the ground to the palace are hundreds of feet high, making it incredibly majestic.

Colorful clouds drifted outside the palace, and red mist appeared and disappeared intermittently, making the glazed tiles on the roof shine brightly. Different kinds of monster heads were carved on the eaves of the palace, and several rows of red gold nails were inlaid on the palace door. A three-zhang-wide white jade silk strip was laid outside the threshold, leading all the way to the steps.

Outside the main hall, a huge plaque hangs high, bearing the three characters "Yanluo Hall".

Compared to the relatively small buildings in the underground palace outside the main hall, the Yama Palace appears exceptionally vast and spacious, with the surrounding buildings seemingly bowing down to the moon like stars surrounding it. The massive walls on both sides of the hall are adorned with carvings of various colossal dragons soaring through the clouds and roaming freely across the heavens and earth. In the somewhat dim light, for some reason, these enormous dragon statues appear rather ferocious.

In the spacious hall, an elderly man with white hair and a youthful face, dressed in white robes and black garments, sat cross-legged on the floor, meditating with his eyes closed and breathing slowly. Directly in front of the old man stood a colossal statue with a human face and a snake's body, many times larger than himself. The statue's head was raised, its expression serene, and it looked down upon the man. The exquisite and ingenious carving made it so lifelike that it seemed as if it might come to life at any moment.

The old man's face was calm and serene as he sat in meditation, seemingly oblivious to everything around him.

The Yama Palace was serene and quiet. Inside, the eyes of countless exquisitely carved dragons seemed to be secretly watching this world.

Suddenly, the lifeless human-faced snake statue suddenly exploded with a strange sound. The old man who was meditating below was instantly shaken, opened his eyes, and looked up at the statue with a look of disbelief.

A terrifying and invisible powerful aura seemed to descend suddenly in an instant, and the enormous statue appeared to come back to life in a flash. The entire Yama's Palace was filled with awe-inspiring divine power, inviolable and inviolable. Faced with this almost insurmountable and terrifying threat, the old man, despite his high level of cultivation, turned deathly pale. However, there was no fear in his eyes; instead, after the initial disbelief and astonishment, a look of wild joy flashed across his face. He was so excited that he couldn't control himself and leaped up, his whole body trembling.
