Chapter 39 You...you stay away from me!
"I want to know how you explain your actions regarding Ji Momo?" Yu Yuetong looked directly into his eyes, a strange sense of grievance welling up inside her.
"You really are straightforward." Qin Reng's voice was deep, with a hint of tenderness unintentionally slipping into his tone. "We've already swapped bodies, and you're still worrying about these trivial matters?"
"Trivial matters?" Yu Yuetong pointed angrily at the screen. "You were with her, and now that I'm you, I have to deal with all these unwanted romantic advances of yours!"
"I never intended to be with her—" Qin Reng leaned on the sink, his firm tone revealing a hint of disdain, "I won't change my opinion of you because of a few news articles."
"Do you really believe me? I don't believe it at all!" Yu Yuetong was actually hoping to find out how much he cared about her, struggling to express her concern.
Once he calmed down, Qin Reng frowned, his gaze passing over her shoulder, and abruptly steered the conversation: "Do you think the trust between us can be built on these sensational news stories?"
"Hmph, how can you expect me to trust a man who has swapped bodies with me several times?" Yu Yuetong's attitude remained resolute, and the confrontation between the two of them made it difficult for her to extricate herself.
“If you want to trust me, I’ll give you the chance.” Qin Reng’s tone became serious. He took a step closer and leaned down slightly towards her. The warmth of his body almost dispelled the anger in her heart. “But you have to let me know that you trust me.”
How do I know if you're lying to me? I won't believe a word you say!
Yu Yuetong pouted and looked at the man in front of her with displeasure. When he didn't say anything, she turned around and ran out of the hotel room.
"What a frustrating situation," she muttered as she walked toward the buffet area, glancing around as she bumped into Qin Reng.
He had already changed his clothes, wearing a sharp suit with the collar slightly open.
His aura instantly made the surrounding atmosphere feel oppressive, and a sense of unease lingered in the silent exchange of glances.
"What? Still angry after just leaving?" Qin Reng's voice rose from behind her, sounding both contemptuous and teasing.
"Hmph, I don't want to talk to you." Yu Yuetong pretended to be indifferent, deliberately turning her gaze to the sumptuous meal next to her, trying to hide the indescribable emotions in her heart.
"If you don't want to talk, then don't. I'll make the choice." Qin Reng smiled faintly and placed a slice of ham in front of her.
He leaned against the dining table, his gaze relaxed yet direct, as if scrutinizing her every move.
Yu Yuetong turned her face away, deliberately ignoring him, but couldn't help but wonder about his intentions. This man was indeed as unpredictable as the rumors suggested; every move he made exuded a cold elegance.
“I have a suggestion,” Qin Reng broke the silence, a sly smile playing on his lips. “Why don’t we take this opportunity to discuss things at the company and help you perform your duties better?”
"I just want to eat breakfast," Yu Yuetong replied decisively, but inexplicably felt a sense of anticipation.
"Don't you think this is awkward? After all, we're husband and wife." He wasn't going to let the opportunity slip by, his slightly lowered tone revealing a hint of passion.
"Husband and wife? You'd better think again. You're clearly just a pawn in a business transaction!" she said through gritted teeth, her voice laced with disdain.
He seemed to be infected by her imposing manner, his brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of displeasure appeared on his face, but he quickly regained his composure: "Alright, then let's just be friends for now."
"Friends?" Yu Yuetong smiled dismissively, thinking to herself, "Does he really believe this relationship can be so easy?"
Putting aside past grievances, she picked up her tray and turned to leave, but he grabbed her arm. "Just like that? Don't you want to give me any response?"
Yu Yuetong's heart suddenly raced. Her wrist was enveloped in his warm palm, which unconsciously shattered her reason. She tried to break free, but his large hand firmly held her still.
"You—" She opened her mouth in anger, wanting to retort, but the words caught in her throat, and she could only turn her head slightly to avoid his gaze.
"Hmm? What do you want to say?" He leaned closer with a half-smile, his eyes filled with provocation at close range.
"You're not being fair to me!" Yu Yuetong finally raised her head, trying to fight back with her momentum, knowing that this would lead nowhere.
“But I want you to see my true self.” His voice was deep and powerful as he approached, seemingly sucking away all the air around him. Yu Yuetong’s heart tightened, and without realizing it, she began to waver.
The Qin Reng before me was no longer the aloof and self-possessed CEO; his true self and vulnerability were laid bare: "I still don't understand why you make me feel that a marriage without any purpose is worth fighting for."
Yu Yuetong blushed slightly, and a glimmer of light gradually appeared in the anger in her heart.
She seemed to find her own reflection in his deep eyes, a mixture of indescribable emotions.
“But I still want a divorce.” Although her tone lowered slightly, her words remained uncompromising.
"Divorce? Do you think it's that simple to solve all the problems?" His voice suddenly rose, carrying a sense of oppression.
She was startled by his shout, and felt more resentment and resistance than anything else.
But the other party's aura intimidated her, and she didn't know whether to continue fighting or back down. Her feelings became complicated and conflicted.
Facing those clear, autumn-like eyes, she took a deep breath and finally said resolutely, "But this is our agreement, and I don't want to continue entangled with you."
In that instant, he leaned closer, almost touching her lips, a slight smirk playing on his lips, full of provocation: "Since you say so, then we need to get to know each other better."
"You..." Yu Yuetong was so shocked that she couldn't speak. Her vision went black, and then all her thoughts rushed in. The chaotic emotions in her mind intertwined like a net, making her unable to stop.
"You asked for this yourself," Qin Reng chuckled softly, as if he thought her resistance was ridiculous.
At that very moment, the kitchen door was pushed open, and a sharp scream shattered the tense atmosphere between them. Before Yu Yuetong could react to what was happening, Qin Reng pulled her aside.
People crowded to one side, staring in horror at what was in front of them. Yu Yuetong turned around to look, but all she saw was darkness.
Yu Yuetong felt as if the air around her had become tense because of Qin Reng's approach.
Her heart pounded, yet she hesitated to speak. The usually cold and aloof man before her was now revealing an unexpected tenderness and longing, stirring up waves in her heart.
"You...you stay away from me!" She struggled to push him away, but Qin Reng's grip tightened, as if to lock away all her resistance.
