Chapter 1806: Void Transit (Part 2)
Chapter 1806: Void Transit (Part 2)
Adam knew many of the Citadel’s secrets, but from time to time he discovered new ones, and it seemed as though there was no end to them.
Now, he was deep beneath the Citadel, in a remote hall where the Void Transit was located.
Sure, Adam understood that having Void Routes across a large area wasn’t anything unique.
Gladius had explained to him that the Void Routes were found all over the world, and many factions, just like the Citadel, controlled several paths for fast travel.
"But..." Adam’s face grew serious. "Even though there are many Void Routes all over the world, it is here, at the Citadel, that the Void Transit is located, right? "The Hollow Artifact is located under the Citadel and nowhere else."
Aiden glanced at Adam and nodded slightly.
"Yes. The fact that the Citadel was able to gain control of the Void Transit was a great achievement for all of humanity. If the Void Transit were in the hands of the Befallen Crown, I doubt anyone but them would have access to the routes. "
"Huh," Gladius chuckled, folding his arms behind his head in a relaxed manner. "Those bastards would have banned even other monsters from using the Void Transit. They would have made it their goal to destroy all Void Routes outside their territories. They’d be at it constantly!"
Adam pondered, rubbing his chin.
"You mentioned the aura, Gladius. Is that why none of the monsters dare to use the Void Routes at the First Ring, is it?"
A strange bloodlust appeared in Gladius’s eyes.
"Indeed. When you were traveling here, you must have noticed that the Void Route wanted to offer you other paths. However, it’s most convenient to choose a direction through the Void Transit itself."
Then, Adam looked at Sano and Natta, who had already recovered, but he remembered that this leap hadn’t come easily to them.
"How difficult will it be for me to reach the Tarnished Lands? Judging by Sano and Natta, they had trouble even with such a short path."
Sano and Natta glared at him. They wanted to say something, but Aiden beat them to it.
"It depends on where you need to go. You’ve come here, but you still don’t know the details of the plan, so I think it’s time to get started."
He took a step forward, standing before the Void Transit, which shuddered once more at his presence.
"You’ll be heading to the Deep Ring of the Tarnished Lands. Your destination will be the Wild Route near the granite cliff. From there, you’ll go to the Blind Eye Tower. There, you’ll meet a monster I can trust with this job."
Aiden stared intently at Adam with his deep amber eyes.
"Laroza is the leader at the Blind Eye Tower, and she is also one of the Renegades. However, I do not recommend taking the Local Routes near her tower. It is unknown how the other members of the Renegades and the monsters living there will react."
After a brief pause, Aiden continued:
"Also, not far from the Blind Eye Tower lies one of the monster cities - Varreyn. There are several Void Routes there. Obviously, you must avoid them at all costs. Even if you can later enter that city without issue, your sudden appearance via a Void Route will be perceived as an invasion. They’ll kill you before you even have a chance to explain yourself."
As Adam listened to Aiden, he nodded, mulling over his plan.
"So I need to meet up with Laroza so she can help me get to the Gray Sea?"
"Something like that. She’ll explain the rest of the details to you when you get there. It’s hard for me to give you more information right now since you’ve never been to such a remote part of the Tarnished Lands."
Suddenly, Silvana had a question.
"But why does Adam need to go to the Blind Eye Tower?"
"Hmm?"
Everyone turned toward her.
" Adam needs to get to the Gray Sea to find his last condition. Why not use the Void Transit to go there right away?"
Adam’s eyes widened for a moment.
"Right. The Gray Sea is a huge area. I’m sure there are Void Routes on the shore and even on the islands as well, aren’t there?"
"Sure."
Aiden didn’t deny it.
"In our world, there are practically no wild places where the Void Routes do not extend. The few territories where even the Void Transit is afraid to venture are the exceptions. All other territories without the Void Routes are controlled by someone powerful."
He continued:
"No one controls the Gray Sea, especially from the Tarnished Lands. However, Adam, you shouldn’t even think about heading to the Gray Sea directly via the Void Routes."
"Why?" Adam narrowed his eyes. "Are you hiding something from me?"
"No."
Aiden replied sharply.
"I just don’t want you to die so foolishly after everything you’ve been through. It would be a disgrace I couldn’t forget. You saw what happened to Sano and Natta. They’re weaker than you, but the difference between you isn’t that significant, just two stages."
Adam nodded with a serious look.
"If you try to head for the shore of the Gray Sea, you simply won’t be able to handle it. Perhaps when you become a Second Rank Phantom, your body will be strong enough for such long and arduous leaps as this.
"But that’s only the first reason. The second is that you know nothing about the real Tarnished Lands or the Renegades. Laroza will help you figure everything out and show you the best path. The fact that I can trust her with such a task should be the best guarantee of safety you can imagine."
Adam rolled his eyes as he snorted: "Looks like you don’t have any self-esteem issues, right?"
"That’s not arrogance, that’s fact. You’re the arrogant one, since 99 out of 100 Phantoms like you are long dead, but you’re still standing here. Well, that’s why I’m helping you, I won’t hide it."
A few moments later, Adam nodded as he stepped forward toward the Void Transit.
"Alright, I get it. I need to find the tower and Laroza. What does she even look like?"
Aiden stared at him.
"You’ll figure it all out right away. I assure you."
A dry reply, but Adam hadn’t expected anything else.
He shifted his gaze to the Void Transit and clenched his fists tightly.
’The Blind Eye Tower and the Gray Sea. I’m coming!’
