The poor husband I picked up turned out to be from a wealthy family

Chapter 873 Moving

Chapter 873 Moving

Shen Qing sat aside and watched him finish half a bowl of porridge. His complexion seemed to look better. She felt relieved and a faint smile unconsciously appeared at the corner of her mouth.

This man, a powerful and domineering boss outside, is like a child who needs to be taken care of at home. And she is willing to cook soup for him, handing him a bowl of warm porridge every morning like this.

Suddenly Yan Bei stopped and looked up at Shen Qing.

"I saw Li Jingnan at the bar yesterday."

Shen Qing was stunned for a moment.

Did you see Li Jingnan at the bar?

"What is she doing there?"

"She works there." Yan Bei said.

"work?"

"Yeah! I saw her wearing cleaning clothes, so she must be working."

Shen Qing nodded.

Then he continued, "Qin Feng has come out. He went to look for Li Jingnan, but he doesn't know where Li Jingnan is?"

Yan Bei raised his eyelids, "You said Qin Feng came out."

"Yeah, I met her yesterday."

Yan Bei nodded and said nothing more.

Shen Qing continued to eat.

After a meal.

Yan Bei went to work.

Shen Qing sent An An and Kang Kang to school.

On the way back, she went to a nearby supermarket to buy some things.

Suddenly a familiar figure stood in front of her.

"Wu Jiao?"

"Shen Qing didn't expect to meet you here." Wu Jiao said.

"Yeah! Long time no see!"

Wu Jiao held Shen Qing's hand.

"You know, Qin Feng is out."

Shen Qing said calmly, "I know."

"Have you seen him?" Wu Jiao continued to ask.

Shen Qing nodded. "Did he go to see you?"

"Yes, but I don't want to see him again. I'm planning to move."

Shen Qing frowned slightly, "Moving?"

"Yeah. I don't want Linlin to see him again either."

"Do you really think so?"

"Yes! I don't want him to disturb us."

"Okay, have you found a house?" Shen Qing asked.

"I've already found one and will move there this afternoon."

"Very good, I'll be leaving first then."

"it is good!"

Shen Qing left.

Wu Jiao picked out some daily necessities and put them in the house she was about to move to.

……

In the afternoon.

The moving truck, emitting exhaust fumes, stopped at the narrow alley entrance of an old residential building.

Wu Jiao paid the money, thanked the impatient driver profusely and sent him away, then turned to look at Lin Lin who was timidly holding the corner of her clothes.

"Don't be afraid, Linlin," Wu Jiao squatted down and forced a gentle smile, although the fine lines at the corners of her eyes still showed the fatigue of the past few days and a hint of subtle tension. "We have arrived at our new home. This will be our home from now on."

Lin Lin nodded, not quite understanding, her big eyes filled with uneasiness about the unfamiliar environment, and her little hands clung tighter. "Mom, Dad... Will Dad come?"

Wu Jiao's heart suddenly clenched, as if being gripped by an invisible hand. She took a deep breath, pulled Lin Lin's small body into her arms, and gently rubbed her chin against her daughter's soft hair. Her voice was low, yet filled with undeniable determination: "Dad... Dad has his own things to do and won't come. From now on, it will just be Mom and Lin Lin. We will be fine."

She didn't dare say too much, fearing she'd make a mistake, and even more afraid the trembling in her voice would betray her inner panic. She had to leave, had to hide, for Linlin's sake, and for herself to breathe. That man, like an impenetrable net, suffocated her.

In this city, every familiar street could become a trap. So, she chose this old neighborhood, a place she felt unfamiliar with, with cheap rent. The alleys crisscrossed like a maze, and perhaps it could be a temporary refuge.

There was no time for sentimentality, no time for hesitation. Wu Jiao wiped the sweat from her forehead and began unloading her few belongings, one by one. A half-worn suitcase held a change of clothes for mother and daughter; several bulging snakeskin bags were stuffed with bedding, pots and pans, and Lin Lin's favorite toys.

She gritted her teeth, dragged the heavy box off the truck, and then moved it step by step to the top floor - their future "home".

Sweat soaked her clothes, her arms ached so much she could barely lift them, and her legs felt like they were filled with lead. Every time she climbed a flight of stairs, she would stop to catch her breath and look back at Lin Lin, who was following closely behind her.

Linlin was very well behaved, not crying or making a fuss. She just watched her mother busying herself silently, and occasionally whispered, "Mom, let me help you."

"Linlin, you're so good. Just watch over here and don't get your clothes dirty." Wu Jiao smiled and touched her head, but her heart ached. She should have been at a carefree age, but now she had to wander around with her, hiding.

Finally, the last bag was dragged into the house. The small room was bare, its walls stained and mottled, and the air thick with a damp, musty smell. The setting sun shone through the dusty windows, casting a few weak rays of light, illuminating the dancing dust in the air.

Wu Jiao collapsed on the cold floor, exhausted, gasping for breath. Lin Lin sat down next to her, resting his little head on her arm.

"Mom, I'm tired." Lin Lin said in a low voice.

"Well, Mom is tired, but I'm not tired anymore when I see Linlin." Wu Jiao turned her head and kissed her daughter's forehead. She swept her eyes across the simple room, and her eyes gradually became firm.

There is no shadow of the past here, no scent of that man. This is their new beginning and their safe haven.

She knew the road ahead was long and difficult. She had to find a job, take care of Linlin, and stay alert at all times, making sure no one discovered their whereabouts, especially the man who had just been released from prison.

She stood up, walked to the window, carefully lifted a corner of the curtain, and vigilantly observed the movements downstairs.

The alley was quiet, with only a few elderly people strolling leisurely. After confirming that it was temporarily safe, she relaxed and drew the curtains, shrouding the entire room in darkness.

"Linlin, can we make the bed first? After the bed is made, we can rest." Wu Jiao turned around and gave Linlin a hopeful smile.

"Okay!" Lin Lin immediately became energetic.

The mother and son began to tidy up. Although they were exhausted, as they spread out the small sheets they had brought and placed Linlin's teddy bear next to the pillow, the cold room seemed to have a touch of warmth.

Wu Jiao held Lin Lin in her arms, sitting on the makeshift "bed" and humming a tuneless nursery rhyme. As Lin Lin listened in her arms, his eyelids began to droop, and soon he began to breathe evenly.

Looking at Linlin's sleeping face, Wu Jiao's eyes became incomparably gentle, yet incomparably resilient. She gently patted Linlin's back and said silently in her heart: Linlin, don't be afraid, Mom will protect you, we will be fine here, and he will never find us again.
