Chapter 15 Really?
Chapter 15 Really?
"It's definitely your mother's way of secretly cultivating a relationship with the child so that An'an will like her even more!" Lu Jing thought to herself, her mind clinging to a petty thought, and then quickly went upstairs to find her granddaughter.
He had just stepped onto a step when he frowned, turned to his son who was sitting on the sofa sipping tea, and said seriously, "By the way! You just went upstairs to see the old man, and he told you, right?"
"Ok!"
The father and son lowered their heads in silence. Lu Jing sighed, thinking of Minjun's child. Although he was the uncle, he, as a grown man, felt it wasn't appropriate to interfere in such matters.
“Minjun…sigh…now that your uncle is gone, we still have to help her as much as we can.” Lu Jing felt helpless, thinking of his eldest niece who had moved out after they returned from abroad.
Then he remembered that his son's marriage was also not going well, so he sat down and said, "What is the current situation of the Gu family? What did you and Nan Xu discuss? Now that the child is back, hurry up and get the formalities done." Even though two years had passed, Lu Jing still tried his best to control his temper when he brought up this matter!
Lu Junxing had worked all day and didn't want to argue with his father about what happened back then, even though it was mostly Lu Jing who was unilaterally furious. He then said, "Nan... An'an's mother's side has been a bit turbulent lately because Grandma Gu's condition isn't very good. For safety reasons, we'll be taking care of the child for now."
Lu Junxing knew that his father had always been resentful about the fact that the child's custody had been awarded to the Gu family, so he didn't say much, only pointing out that the child would eventually have to go back!
"The one from France?"
Lu Jing pondered for a moment before remembering that the woman was even older than his grandfather, and because of some vague and uncertain love, they ended up getting married and having children after Lu Jing was already born. Now, Lu Jing was indeed getting on in years, and it was about time for him to remarry.
"Since that's the case, for the sake of the child, you should still show your support when necessary!" Lu Jing put down his teacup, got up, and went upstairs. Whether he was going to find his granddaughter or go to the study was unknown.
Lu Junxing, being a businessman himself, naturally understood what Lu Jing meant, but his daughter wouldn't stoop to coveting the money left by the old man.
Later that evening, Lu Junxing received a call from Assistant Zhao. There were some matters at the company's branch office that needed to be handled in the next city early the next morning. Since the old house was quite a distance from the city center, he decided to head straight back that evening.
When Lu Jun walked to the door of the room with the words "Young Master Lu's Room" written on it, looking at the artistic lettering that was completely out of place with the grand and scholarly style, he touched the doorknob, opened the door, and wiped his hands with a handkerchief.
The little girl, who was using the bed as a trampoline, heard the sound and exclaimed happily, "Daddy! Wow~, this is awesome!" She then waved her hair that was tossing in front of her and said, "Do you want to come join us? It's so much fun~"
Lu Jun walked up and held the little girl's body, which kept jumping up, straightened her fleece pajamas, and tidied her messy curly hair: "Stand still, I have something to say!"
"Huh? Why!" The little girl hugged the man's neck, panting heavily. "What is it? Daddy, you have to hurry! An'an wants to jump high!"
Touching the little girl's hair, which was still a bit damp, he picked up a towel and wiped it dry. "I'm going back to sleep tonight. Do you want to stay here tonight, or do you want to go back to sleep with me?"
"Huh?" An'an glanced at her new bed with her small eyes, and said somewhat reluctantly, "Em...no~, I want to stay here~"
Remembering the heart-wrenching crying from earlier that day, Lu Junxing asked again, "Then I'll be going now, are you sure? You'll be sleeping here tonight!"
"No~, don't~" An'an was reluctant to leave her new bed; she hadn't played with it enough yet. But she also didn't want her dad to leave, so she wrapped her arms around his neck and nestled against his skin.
"What do you not want?" Lu Junxing didn't want to have to come back in the middle of the night to soothe the child after he left, so it was more important to get it straight. He straightened the child up and made her look into his eyes as he asked.
"Um... can't we sleep here together?" An'an looked at the man's serious expression and wanted to hide in his arms, but she was being held back, so she could only fiddle with her fingers and whisper.
"No, I have something to do, so I have to go back today. If you're too scared to sleep, you can have Grandma come and keep you company!" He remembered how the little girl would always fall asleep next to him before he carried her back to her room, and sometimes she would wake up at night and come to his room with her toy.
"Waaah~, but I want to stay here with Daddy~" An'an clutched her daddy's pajamas collar, looking at him with tears in her eyes.
It was almost 11 o'clock. Lu Junxing had taken a shower and answered a phone call before coming over. He was very tired, but in order to prevent similar situations from happening again in the future, he patiently explained, "An'an, you like this bed and want to sleep here, but I have something to do and have to leave, so I can't stay here with you, understand?"
Lu Junxing wiped away the little girl's tears: "Huh?"
"I understand~" An'an nodded, feeling a little sad.
"So, do you want to stay here, or come with me?" Lu Junxing wasn't in a hurry. It was already so late, so he simply waited for the young girl to think it over.
After a while, the little girl tentatively asked in her childish voice, "Can we still play on this bed?"
Hearing this, Lu Junxing knew that if he left, the child would most likely come looking for him that night. He noticed the bed looked no different from the one at home; the brand was one Aunt Liu had arranged for the old house.
Then, watching the little girl roll onto the bed, saying goodbye to her bed, and reluctantly touching the alpaca wool, he seemed to know why she was reluctant to leave: "Alright, go now. When you get back, just ask Aunt Liu to get you the same four-piece bedding set!"
"Really?" An'an looked up in surprise, blinking her eyes as she looked at the man.
Lu Junxing grunted in response, walked over, and irritably lifted the fluffy blanket. He then picked up the child and headed towards his room to change his clothes before leaving.
